Some tools will be needed to remove the speedo and perform the modification. Always wear appropriate safety equipment when using tools. Estimated 3 hour job start to finish.

Cars from 1999 to 2001 approx  VDO clusters 

VDO version1  gallery  instrument casing removed, showing internals. Version 1 of cluster is D9 early cluster typically fitted to cars from 1999 to 2001 -  that used bulbs as standard for back lighting the dial.

VDO version 1  cluster opened, shows how the dial would be fitted if you were going to use the dial only without the plasma electronics and backlighting discs.

Cars from 2002- 2004 approx  VDO Version 2 cluster using LED lighting as standard 

• this Later version of the speedo,   comes with LEDs already fitted inside the speedo ,instead of twist in bulbs, here we fitted  the plasma disc inside the cluster, powered internally from points on the cluster circuit board

Many of the coupe 2.2hdi 2002 to 2004  cars had this cluster also
